Experience, commitment best for county board

Every now and then successful, qualified individuals choose to turn their life upside down and become a candidate for political office. They don't have to do it. We all know it isn't an easy path. But they are moved by a desire to improve the lives of those around them.

Charles "Chuck" Bartels has been our friend for almost 20 years, and he is unique. He and his wife, Teresa, elevated our worldview by their generous examples. Chuck exemplifies what it means to be a good citizen - to step up, donate, get involved and inspire others to be their best selves.

Chuck needs everyone who lives in the Lake County Board 10th District to use the Republican primary ballot to choose him next Tuesday. Having spent the last 40 years involved in all aspects of Lake County activities, he has the most experience of the three candidates.

To name just a few endeavors, he helped raise money for a high school expansion, established business partnerships to guide the planning for Lake County roads, and worked tirelessly for abused women - all while representing the global interests of Manpower in 80 countries.

Chuck Bartels understands how to bring jobs to Lake County and is endorsed by most of the people who know what it takes to make things happen. He will be an asset to the Lake County Board and advocate for people regardless of their political affiliation. His hallmark is caring, he listens well and he is a proven leader.

Let's follow the Daily Herald's endorsement and vote for Chuck Bartels.
