People's Choice Program for EAB Extended until 2016

The Arlington Heights Village Board recently approved an extension to the 50/50 People's Choice Program for residents who wish to treat their parkway ash trees against the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). Due to the success of this cost-sharing program, the Village Board voted to extend it until October 31, 2016.

The extended program will follow the same guidelines as the original program: residents may be reimbursed 50% of the treatment costs, up to $50 per parkway ash tree, if they treat with the Village's preferred method, TREE-age trunk injection.

Residents who participated in the original People's Choice Program are eligible to be reimbursed for a second treatment of TREE-age. Therefore, residents who treated parkway ash trees in 2012 should treat again in 2014 and submit for reimbursement. Similarly, residents who treated in 2013 should treat for a second time in 2015 and then submit for a reimbursement.

Residents who wish to treat their parkway ash tree for the first time in 2014 are also eligible for a reimbursement. Initial treatments must be completed by October 31, 2014. Accordingly, second treatments would then be reimbursed in 2016.

The People's Choice program runs through October 31, 2016. In order to be reimbursed, please complete the attached Reimbursement form and submit with the contractor's invoice marked "PAID". The documents may be submitted online, mailed to 222 N. Ridge Ave Arlington Heights, IL 60005 - Attention Forestry, or emailed to eab@vah.com.

If you have questions about EAB or reimbursements, please call 847/368-5800 or email eab@vah.com.
