Bring items for troop care packages to Hampshire expo

The Hampshire American Legion Auxiliary Unit 680 will be hosting an “Operation Support Our Troops,” and “Operation Warm Troops” event at their booth during the Hampshire Chamber's Home and Business Expo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at Hampshire Middle School, 560 S. State St.

Residents of Hampshire and neighboring communities are encouraged to bring monetary donations as well as items from the following list: individual cold drink mix packets (such as: Propel, Gatorade, Crystal Light), Slim Jims/Jerky, individually wrapped snacks, nuts (20 oz. or less,) granola bars, coffee singles or 1-lb. bags/cans of coffee, lotion for men 12 oz. or less, mouthwash (500 mL. or less,) razors, eye drops, and nasal spray. (No glass items)

These items will be shipped to troops stationed overseas through Operation Support Our Troops.

Hats, gloves, warm socks and blankets will also be collected for Operation Warm Troops, to help keep injured troops warm during their flight home. Stationery and coloring pages will be available for those wishing to send a note of encouragement to our deployed troops.
