Join the party, and show your spirit! On Friday, March 21, the Northbrook Park District will host the second Northbrook Zumbathon from 7-8:30pm at the Greenbriar School Gym, 1225 Greenbriar Lane in Northbrook, to benefit the Northfield Township Food Pantry. The pantry provides food for more than 700 families in Northbrook, Northfield and Glenview.

"Zumba is a dance fitness workout, set to music, and this is a fun way to bring people together to help others in the community," said Tiffany Greene, Leisure Services Supervisor with the Northbrook Park District. "We were very pleased with the turnout at last year's event, which attracted families and a large age span. We had people as young as 4 or 5 and others in their 70s."

Admission to the Northbrook Zumbathon is free with a donation of at least two non-perishable items for the food pantry. The greatest need is for cereal, canned fruit, canned ravioli and spaghetti. The pantry also can accept household items, such as soap, laundry detergent, tissues and paper towels.

"Our fabulous Zumba instructors will donate their time to lead this high-energy, calorie-burning fitness party for a good cause," Greene added. "You won't even realize that you're working out, because it's so much fun. The moves are easy to follow, and all ages and fitness levels are welcome. Try it; you'll like it!"

Monetary donations also will be accepted at the event, in cash or checks made out to the Northfield Township Food Pantry. Northbrook Park District staff will load the donated items into a van and deliver them to the pantry.
