Oak Brook Tennis Center Named Chicago USTA Facility of the Year

The Oak Brook Park District Tennis Center, located at 1300 Forest Gate Road in Oak Brook, was presented with the Chicago Tennis Patrons' 2013 Outstanding Facility of the Year Award during the 25th Annual Evening of Champions on Sat., Feb. 22, 2014. The award, which is sponsored by Midtown Athletic Clubs, is presented each year to an outstanding tennis facility that has supported and promoted the overall growth of tennis in the Greater Chicago area.

Since 2010, the Oak Brook Tennis Center has revamped its program offerings, greatly increased tournament play at the facility, and worked to make the game more accessible to players of all ages and abilities. The Oak Brook Tennis Center offers a Junior Progressive Training System designed to develop junior players from beginners to high performance players. The junior pathway introduces USTA 10 and Under Tennis, using a game-based approach and modern teaching techniques to ensure success. The facility also promotes and supports the increasingly popular and growing 10 and Under Tennis programs.

The Oak Brook Tennis Center is the home facility of the Oak Brook High Performance Academy which has produced multiple nationally ranked juniors and IHSA champions. It is also an official Cardio Tennis site and provides a wide variety of competitive and social adult programs and special events.

The Tennis Center is also home to 30+ USTA teams per year and host of 8 to 10 USTA junior tournaments per year including the G12 and B16 Chicago District Championships (Qualifier) tournaments. Last year, Alin Pop, Oak Brook Park District Tennis Center manager, was named the 2012 Tournament Director of the Year by the Chicago Tennis Patrons.

Oak Brook Park District Tennis Center is a nationally recognized facility that features 8 newly resurfaced, air conditioned indoor hard courts with updated lighting and 8 recently resurfaced outdoor hard courts, 5 racquetball/wallyball courts, and newly renovated fitness room, locker rooms and lounge areas.

The Chicago Tennis Patrons is the fund raising arm of the Chicago District Tennis Association. The organization works to positively impact the lives of kids in the greater Chicago area by providing access to tennis programs that help kids develop a healthy, active lifestyle while learning values and life skills necessary to be successful in life and a positive contributor in their communities.
