Prospect and Buffalo Grove students earn state honors in Speech

The Prospect High School Performance in the Round speech team earned third place honors at the recent Illinois High School Association All-State Tournament. This is the highest achievement by a Prospect team.

Team members include senior Mary Godby; juniors Pooja Bahl, Elyse Wachsmuth and Ryan Kopp; sophomores Natalie Carioti, Melissa Spacapan, Lillian Hermes, Grace Gadow, Adrian Polizter and Jonah Tomko-Smith; and freshmen Maggie Ward, John Zach, Ben Marshall, and Brendan McGovern.

Prospect's Individual Events Team placed fifth in state, and several students were awarded individual honors.

In Dramatic Duet Acting, Prospect High School senior Josh Arshonsky and sophomore Kit Fitzgerald placed third. Senior Jennifer Ruda took fifth place in Humorous Interpretation; junior Claudia Lowe placed fifth in Informative Speaking; sophomore Andrew Pittman captured seventh place in Original Comedy; senior Hannah Rose placed fifth in Poetry Reading; and junior James Farquharson took fifth in Prose Reading. Buffalo Grove High School junior Georgette Voss came in fifth place in state in Dramatic Interpretation.
