Fox Lake man charged with possession of child pornography

A Fox Lake man is being held on $300,000 bond after his arrest for possession of child pornography, authorities said Friday.

Stephen A. O'Dette, 61, was arrested Thursday at his home on the 0-100 block of Highview Avenue after a January investigation by the Lake County sheriff's office Cybercrimes Unit and the Lake County state's attorney's office, sheriff's Sgt. Sara Balmes said.

A search warrant was executed on O'Dette's home, Balmes said, and computer evidence was seized. It included several pornographic images, many of which were determined to be child pornography, she said.

O'Dette was charged with six felony counts of possession of child pornography, and his bond was set at $300,000. He must pay 10 percent to be released.

He is scheduled to appear in court March 24.

Because on the extensive amount of pornography found, Balmes said the case remains under investigation.
