Chicago police are investigating the discovery of a woman's body inside an underground basin by a city water department employee.
WLS-TV reports the unidentified woman who is thought to be in her 30s was discovered Wednesday morning. The worker who found the body was part of a crew that had gone to the valve basin on the city's far South Side to shut off the water to allow work on a water main down the street.
The police department said only that it is investigating, and the Cook County medical examiner's office said an autopsy will be conducted today.
WLS-TV reported that the body was inside a black plastic bag stuffed into the space.
