Get your team onboard for Literacy Connection Trivia Bee

Information and online team registration is now available for The Literacy Connection's 17th annual Trivia Bee Fundraiser, which takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin.

The agency celebrates its 30th year in 2014 and hopes to raise $30,000 to support Adult Volunteer and Family Literacy programs, as well as English conversation groups, all of which help hundreds in the community each year who struggle with English.

The community is invited to "Get Involved!" Last year's competition attracted standing room only crowds as 26 teams competed for the coveted Trivia Bee Fundraiser trophy. The Literacy Connection is looking for raffle donations and 30 teams to participate in this year's competition. Teams are comprised of no more than four members. Early-bird team registration ends Thursday, March 13, for $400 per team; regular registration is $500 per team.

Members from the top three teams receive prizes and trophies, plus the top fundraising team and individual have an opportunity to win an additional prize with this year's Team Challenge. Team Challenge invites the community to show its support to any participating team or team member by making a monetary donation on their behalf.

The event also features a gift basket and grand prize raffle. Spectators can purchase tickets for $5 on event day. Refreshments will be provided. Radio personality and host, Stew Cohen will serve as emcee. Visit www.elginliteracy.org/events/trivia-bee-2014 for more information or call (847) 742-6565.
