Island Lake residents should expect to see dead fish on the surface of the village's namesake once spring weather arrives, officials have announced. In a letter to residents, the town's lake management committee said a camera was lowered into the water, and some dead fish were discovered. Additionally, oxygen levels are lower than they should be. The fish deaths were attributed to the snow and ice covering the lake, which limits the sunlight that can reach plants and hampers oxygen production.
