Wheeling Orchesis concert highlights dance festival entries

Wheeling High School Orchesis presents its annual concert titled "Hold Your Breath" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27; Friday, Feb. 28; and Saturday, March 1, in the school's theater.

The show features a range of works from Orchesis members and guests, including country line dance, breaking, hip-hop, contemporary, musical theater, and jazz.

The two works selected for the National High School Dance Festival in Miami will be highlighted. This year, dancers worked with guest artists Brandon DiCriscio (former River North), Lizzie Mackenzie (Extensions Dance Company director), Jenna Avers, and Keri Wilson (former student teachers), Monternez Rezell (Movement Revolution) and Corey Nagel (Matrix).

At 5 p.m. March 9, Wheeling High School Orchesis hosts the 20th anniversary of Dance for Life's Next Generation, which features 14 youth companies performing professionally choreographed works by some of Chicago's premiere artists.

The season continues as they host the District 214 Honor Orchesis concert Tuesday, March 11.
