Jarrett Payton to speak at anti-bullying event

Jarrett Payton will kick off a series of Maine Township-sponsored programs about bullying on March 12 with a lecture at Maine West High School.

Payton, son of the late Chicago Bears running back Walter Payton, will discuss the dynamics of bullying and his own experiences with bullying in high school.

He will be joined by Camille Paddock, a 15-year-old who was bullied at age 9 due to hair loss from an autoimmune disease. She founded a nonprofit organization, Cam's Dare to Be Different, and now gives speeches to groups throughout the state about bullying, depression and suicide prevention.

The event is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. March 12 at Maine West, 1700 Wolf Road in Des Plaines.

Other programs sponsored by Maine Township's MaineStay Youth & Family Services are planned for later in March and April. For more information, visit mainetownship.com/bullying or contact (847) 297-2510, extension 271.
