Rachael Barton performs to sold-out crowd at the Listening Room

On Feb. 16, renowned violinist Rachel Barton Pine performed to a sold-out crowd of a 100-plus at Lakeside Legacy Arts Park's the Listening Room in Crystal Lake. Barton Pine typically performs to large crowds in auditoriums such as Chicago's Symphony Hall, yet this Sunday, local ticket holders experienced a rare intimate performance with the violinist.

Barton Pine is just one example of the entertainment being performed in this new state-of-the-art venue.

"Our purpose for this space is to offer high caliber entertainment in a personal setting. No matter the music genre, comedy, children's performer, we want McHenry County residents and neighboring communities to realize you don't need to travel far from home for a night of entertainment," said Roger Reupert, the house manager of the Listening Room.

Siobhan Cottone, the executive director of Lakeside Legacy Foundation, added, "You might not recognize the names Peter Calo, Fareed Haque, or even some of the local Chicago talent we are booking, yet we want audiences to become more aware of this hidden venue."

Tickets range from $15-$30.

Calo has written and performed with Carly Simon, and Fareed toured with Sting. Additionally, with the proximity to Chicago, many people are probably familiar with attending shows at Second City or clubs like Buddy Guy's Legends. The upcoming blues jam and comedy night bring to life the vibe and talent of Chicago venues to Crystal Lake at an affordable cost.
