No students on bus hit head-on in Inverness

A Barrington Unit District 220 school bus with no students on it was struck head-on by another vehicle on Barrington Road between Dundee Road and Bradwell in Inverness shortly after 7 a.m. Friday, officials said.

The only people aboard the Barrington Transportation Co. bus were the driver and a trainee, Barrington Unit District 220 spokesman Jeff Arnett said.

A Barrington Transportation Co. official said both the bus driver and trainee were taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital for observation, but later released.

The driver of the other vehicle was also transported for reportedly more serious injuries, Arnett said.

No further information was available Friday about the condition of that driver or the cause of the collision.
