Union House opens in Winfield
A new small plates gastropub recently opened in Winfield. Touting a casual, inviting atmosphere with high quality food, Union House American Kitchen brings together the Misceo family mother and sons team and executive chef James Bouska, formerly of the Purple Pig in Chicago and Sugartoad in Naperville. Signature dishes include mac and cheese served with white cheddar Mornay sauce, Tasso ham, tomato concasse and toasted panko and pork belly with grits, Swiss chard and pork jus. The dining room is open 4 to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2 p.m. until last guest on Saturdays.

Oak Brook Hills Resort lands a new chef
Oak Brook Hills Resort recently welcomed chef Carol Buckantz to oversee all food and beverage operations at the resort for events, conferences and the resort's five restaurants: Windows Restaurant, Windows Cafe, the Lobby Bar, The Grille and Mulligan's. Buckantz plans to apply her 20 years of culinary experience to upcoming holiday brunch menus and introducing more farm-to-table items.
