2nd hearing set on Illinois gambling expansion

State Rep. Robert Rita has scheduled the second of several public hearings on gambling expansion.

The second public hearing is set for Monday evening Tinley Park. The first hearing was late last month in East St. Louis in southern Illinois.

Rita is a Democrat from Blue Island. He supports a measure that would resemble one that failed in the Illinois General Assembly last year. It called for adding five new Illinois casinos, as well as slot machines at Chicago's two international airports.

Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn has vetoed two previous gambling bills because he says they didn't include enough ethical protections. Quinn also has said he'll only sign legislation that provides adequate oversight of a Chicago casino and directs new revenues to education.
