Vote for name of Arlington Hts./Mt. Prospect dog park

The public can now vote for their favorite name for the new dog park planned to open in June as a joint project between the Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect park districts.

Close to 200 names were submitted by residents and officials have narrowed the submissions down to three: Barkalot Park, Canine Commons or Scentral Park.

Voting is available at www.ahpd.org and www.mppd.org through Feb. 28. The winning name will be revealed in early March.

"It's been fun to see just how excited residents are about this dog park," said John Robinson, the Arlington Heights Park District's superintendent of recreation. "We think it's great that people are taking such an active role in helping us come up with a name befitting of the new facility."

The joint dog park will offer 1.82 acres of outdoor space for dogs at Melas Park, 1500 W. Central Road.
