Hanover Township to offer CPR/AED class

On Wednesday, Feb. 19, the Hanover Township Office of Community Health will be offering an American Heart Association CPR/AED Heart Saver certification class at the Township's Senior Center, 240 S. Route 59, in Bartlett.

The class will begin at 10:30 a.m. and finish at 2:30 p.m. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Heart Saver certification card. There is a $20 fee for residents and a $25 fee for nonresidents.

"It is important for everyone to know CPR, not just health care professionals," said Kristen Smith, director of the Office of Community Health.

"CPR significantly increases the chance of survival and with four out of five cardiac arrests occurring at home, the life you save may very well be a friend or family member."

This is a video-based, instructor led course that will teach adult CPR and AED use, along with child and infant CPR. Instruction on how to relieve choking will also be covered in this course. This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training, health care providers are not eligible for certification in this course. Space is limited.

To register for the course or for questions, call (630) 483-5665 or email och@hanover-township.org.
