Learn about birds in the Waukegan Dunes

The Lake County Audubon Society meeting on Monday, March 3, will feature a presentation by Ed Collins, director of land preservation and natural resources for the McHenry County Conservation District, about birds in the Waukegan Dunes.

Collins conducted a nine-month avian survey of Waukegan's Bowen Park and selected areas of the Waukegan Dunes Complex for the Waukegan Harbor Citizens Advisory Group to document the significance of these areas for resident and migratory birds. His presentation will review the natural communities, the history of the areas and their impact by human disturbance, and the effect invasive species and habitat fragmentation have on birds in these areas.

The 90-minute public meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Libertyville village hall, 119 W. Cook Ave.
