Relay kickoff/pizza party a big success

On behalf of the entire Relay For Life of Bartlett, Hanover Park and Streamwood committee, we would like to thank the community for their support and generosity for the 2014 Relay For Life kickoff event that was held on Jan. 24 at Hanover Township.

This year's event featured a competition for the best pizza of the tri-village area. Over 100 attendees sampled pizza from nine different vendors. The Stars N' Stripes Café of the Township Senior Center received 1st Place; The Chicago Loop Sports Bar and Grill of Streamwood took 2nd Place and Papa Saverio's in Bartlett went home with 3rd Place.

The event would not have been possible without the generous donations from the prize winners and from the other contenders: Bannerman's Sports Grill in Bartlett, Danny's Pizza in Streamwood, Giordano's in Streamwood, Moretti's in Bartlett, Nicodino's Pizza Co. & Café in Bartlett and Rosatti's Pizza of Streamwood.

At the kickoff, attendees had the opportunity to learn more about the American Cancer Society and Relay For Life from committee members and long time participants. Committee member Pam Brandes shared her personal story of battling cancer and what Relay means to her.

The 2014 Relay For Life of Bartlett, Hanover Park and Streamwood will be held on Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14 at the Hanover Township campus in Bartlett.
