Endorsement: Wiley for GOP in DuPage County Board District 6

Three candidates are seeking the Republican nomination in the March 18 primary for one District 6 seat on the DuPage County Board.

The field features two strong candidates, Kevin Wiley and Valerie Ann Bruggeman, both of West Chicago, and a third, Erica Lynne Sutton of Wayne, who did not participate in the endorsement process. The winner advances to the November election to face Democratic incumbent Laurie Nowak. Wiley and Bruggeman bring strong business backgrounds to their campaigns. Wiley is director of portfolio management at Schaumburg-based Catamaran, with more than 30 years service in the Army. Bruggeman is director of external affairs for AT&T after previously working for the county's convalescent center and its department of human services. Wiley has demonstrated his financial acumen as a trustee for the Bartlett Fire Protection District, which has been recognized for financial transparency. He says county government needs to transform into a more effective advocate for residents and he can lead the charge. We like Wiley's methodical approach to problem solving and think he can hit the ground running as a strong voice for District 6 residents. Wiley is endorsed.
