Last part of seminar to focus on climate change

The 2014 Great Lakes Bioneers Speaker Series concludes at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, in the Luecht Conference Center at McHenry County College, 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake.

The last of a three-part series, this seminar will feature the topic "Adapt to Changing Conditions: Embodying Nature's Resilience Principles in the Face of Climate Change."

Speakers include Amy Coffman Phillips, designer and facilitator and founder of B-Collaborative and joining her, via DVD, will be Janine Benyus, founder and president of Biomimicry Network.

Coffman Phillips is a certified Biomimicry professional who believes citizens can solve today's sustainability and resilience challenges by learning from the success stores found in nature. Trained as an licensed architect with an MBA concentration in business management, she takes her love of nature and the creative process and weaves them into a career that re-connects humans and nature with the goal of improving both human and natural systems.

She founded the B-Collaborative, an education and design consultancy, to create and facilitate transformative nature inspired projects. Their "BEND," Don't Break" Naturally Inspired Resiliency workshop gives businesses, organizations, and communities the tools they need to integrate biological resilience strategies into their strategic planning.
