FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The National Weather Service says Fort Wayne's temperature dropped Wednesday morning to 15 degrees below zero, breaking the city's record for the coldest mark on the date.

The weather service says that temperature broke the previous Feb. 12 record of 14 below set in 1899. Fort Wayne also set a record low for Feb. 11 on Tuesday when the temperature hit 16 below, breaking the old record of 6 below set in 1982.

The weather service calls for temperatures to rise into the high teens in Fort Wayne on Wednesday and into the low 30s on Thursday.
