Ex-Carpentersville firefighter found guilty of punching woman

A former part-time firefighter for Carpentersville and West Dundee pleaded guilty Thursday to beating up a woman at a Christmas party in December, according to court records.

Jason S. Elders, of the 43W600 block of Sunset Court, St. Charles, was sentenced to a year of court supervision, 30 hours of community service and ordered to pay $350 in court costs and fines, records show.

Elders was charged with misdemeanor battery Dec. 22, accused of punching a woman in the face multiple times with a closed fist, records show.

Under the guilty plea accepted by Judge Elizabeth Flood, Elders is to have no contact with the victim.

If he violates supervision, he could be sentenced to up to 364 days in jail.

A message left with Elders' defense attorney, James Etchingham, was not returned.
