North Central's Kmiec Named CCIW Player of the Week

North Central College's Vince Kmiec has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 3-9. The CCIW announced this week's selections on Monday.

Kmiec became the first Cardinal to receive the award this season after helping lead North Central to a pair of CCIW wins on the road last week. He scored a team-high 18 points, including an 8 for 8 effort from the free-throw line, in a 64-60 victory at Millikin University on Wednesday, then put up a game-high 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds while making 4 of 5 three-point attempts in an 83-62 win at North Park University on Saturday.

The Cardinals' leading scorer this season at 15.4 points per game, Kmiec currently leads the CCIW in steals (47), three-pointers made (52) and minutes played per game (35.2). He is North Central's all-time leader in career steals (165) and ranks third all-time in made three-pointers (163).

The Cardinals host fifth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University (18-3, 8-2) on Wednesday. Tipoff at Gregory Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m.
