North Central's Redlinski Honored by CCIW

North Central College multi-event athlete Jocelyn Redlinski has been selected as one of the College Conference of Ililnois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week for Feb. 3-9.

Redlinski placed second in the pentathlon at the Illinois Wesleyan University Keck Invitational on Friday, breaking her own North Central varsity record with a total of 3,382 points. She finished first in three of the five individual events: the 60-meter hurdles (tying her own school record with a time of 9.05), the high jump (5'3") and the long jump (17'4 3/4"). Redlinski was third among all competitors in the shot put (33'8 3/4") and fifth in the 800-meter run (2:41.53).

She currently ranks ninth nationally at the NCAA Division III level in the pentathlon and 12th in the 60-meter hurdles, leading all CCIW competitors in both events. She qualified for the Division III Indoor National Championships in the pentathlon and took part in the Outdoor National Championships in the heptathlon in 2013.

Redlinski is the second North Central athlete to receive one of the CCIW's weekly awards this season. Pole vaulter Elizabeeth Composto was so honored on Jan. 28.

The Cardinals host the Chicagoland Indoor Championships on Friday at Al B. Carius Track. Competition is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
