If so, what?The passion to serve my community in a leadership position has placed a demand on the potential within to positively lead by example and insure that Kane County remains a safe place to live, work, raise children and allow seniors to enjoy their golden years without fear of crime, abuse and neglect.If you are an incumbent, describe your main contributions. Tell us of any important initiatives you've led. If you are a challenger, what would you bring to the board and what would your priority be?I am not the incumbent; however, I would use green technology to insure cost effectiveness and environmental safety. I would research an alternative fuel source for squad cars and a program to reduce head count in the jail.How do you plan to address the heroin problem in Kane County?The three pillars of my platform would be the road map to deal with the heroin epidemic; public education, public health, and public safety. As part of the public education portion I would continue to educate the public on the dangers of drugs, and work with the Regional Office of Education and other County Organizations to develop prevention programs. Also, working with the health department and pre-hospital emergency service providers (EMS systems and Fire/EMS), to continue to develop a partnership to provide on-scene assistance for the treatment of patients in those instances. We would also utilize diversion programs.Two people have killed themselves at the jail in the last two years. How do you plan to prevent future suicides?I would establish mandatory continuous training on risk factors and warning signs for suicide prevention. I would also include behavior awareness recognition and prevention.Do you plan to continue the Roscoe Ebey Citizen of the Year Award? Why or why not?Yes, I plan to continue with the Roscoe Ebey Citizen of the year award. Mr. Ebey served his country in the armed forces, his community and by setting the example of being a good neighbor. We want to moralize his dedication to service and life.What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Oprah Winfrey is a leader of people. However, the path I have traveled has made me the man I am today.What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?My favorite subject was science because I wanted to know why and it continues to drive me today because I want to know why.If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?It would be to develop a personal and intimate relationship with God.
