If yes, please explain: NoQuestions Answers How will you work to make the General Assembly function more productively and effectively? Wlll you vote to retain your party's current legislative leader? In what specific ways do you support changing how government in Springfield works?I have worked on many bi-partisan, non-partisan and business committees and know what it takes to get things done. When agendas are set aside and individuals do not demand credit, the priority is on achieving the right outcomes. My focus is primarily on fiscal issues, creating jobs and better education. Leader Durkin is supporting me without a quid pro quo commitment in return. Speaker Madigan rules with an iron fist. As part of his caucus you must pledge your allegiance to him in exchange for political backing. I will also aggressively work on reforms like term limits and "Fair Map".If the Supreme Court, strikes down the SB 1 pension reform, what is your Plan B and why do you think it would be both legal and effective?I do not support changing the system for current enrollees who have been paying into the system and had an agreement that should not be broken after the fact. The Illinois Constitution prohibits those types of changes anyway. However, new enrollees should be entered into a 401K style system that is more sustainable over time. Legislative pensions should be eliminated for all incoming legislators. I will not sign up for a legislative pension or health benefits as an example of leadership from the front. As it stands now, the 2011 income tax increase will expire as planned on Jan. 1. Do you think that expiration should be reconsidered? Would you support making the increase permanent or extending it for some period of time? Please be specific about what level of tax increase, if any, you would support. The income tax should be rolled back to 3%. Tax increase has not resulted in any significant progress. There is a tremendous amount of waste, fraud and abuse in the budget, including dead people and out-of-state residents, all remaining on Medicaid rolls and other government benefit programs. We have to clean this up right away. 'Job export' must end. Reform to worker's comp and liability policy can build a better business climate and will have a major impact on job growth in Illinois. We must invest in our infrastructure and job recruitment to truly turn Illinois around.Do you support cuts in state spending? If so, what specifically do you suggest cutting and how will those cuts be sufficient to restore the state's financial health and economic climate?Spending on pensions and Medicaid alone amounts to 38% of our total budget. Critical examination of just these two expenses has potential for great savings. Forensic auditing should be conducted to root out the waste. We should reevaluate state spending line by line. States like Texas, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin have done this and have turned their economies around. 2014 brings an opportunity for the same in Illinois. I believe in re-prioritizing valuable resources towards education and infrastructure. What changes, if any, do you believe the state should make in the area of education? Would you support the the so-called pension cost-shift to local schools? The biggest issue I hear about at doors is property taxes. Given the high cost of these taxes, I can see no way how our area would benefit from the cost shift. This would essentially transfer a much of the liability of the Illinois Teacherâ#128;™s Retirement Fund to the local schools districts and create another pressure on them while they are they are already struggling for needed funds. We must invest in new generation vocational and technical training facilities/programs. This will attract more investment and improve the overall job situation in our State. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Creating jobs, cutting taxes, enhancing education and building a better business climate are my top issues, but there are others I am aware that need adequate attention. -Proper money to complete road construction projects on major district arteries like 88, Route 59, and Route 34. -Keeping our kids and seniors safe from crime. -The cost of higher education is quickly becoming unattainable. Iâ#128;™ll fight to develop a strategy to hold down the costs of college. We should look at conferring 4 year degrees from our local community colleges like Waubonsee and COD.Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Louisiana Governor Jindal has turned notoriously corrupt state into a success story. His streamlined programs have resulted in improvement of state's economy without raising taxes. What's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?My father taught me the value of hard work and stretching a dollar conservatively. He emphasized family values and the need for pursuing advanced education. If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I feel truly blessed and thankful for the values/education, family/friends and opportunities I have received. I will continue my crusade for humanitarian and public service. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Math and Business. These led me to be an innovative thinker and entrepreneur, enabling me to hire hundreds of people and grow a thriving business. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Be known for integrity and honesty. You must maintain a reputation that your word is, indeed, your bond. In both business and social relationships.
