Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what is that?I am running to make a difference in State of Illinois financial operations. My principal interest is a balanced budget. There must be a revenue stream for each expenditure.What differentiates you most from your opponents in the race?My 20 years of experience with government operations at the county level makes me the most experienced candidate. I have experience monitoring county budgets in excess of $ 100 million dollars per year. I have attended many more committee meetings and budget hearings than any of my opponents.Would you vote to make Illinois' temporary income tax hike permanent before it expires in January 2015? If not, how will you replace the billions of dollars the tax hike brought in, or what cuts would you make?I would not make the tax hike permanent. We need efficiency in government, not more taxation. We should utilize the Auditor General recommendations to improve controls over revenues and expenditures.Please outline your views on public pensions in Illinois.My views on public pensions are to close the loopholes in the pension legislation, impose restrictions on multiple pension benefits, and provide funding for pension liabilities. We need to revisit eligibility for retirement age and compensation level.What changes would you make to the state's new concealed carry law, if any? Would you change the number of exempted places where people cannot carry? In what way? Would you change the training requirements? In what way? Do you support restricting assault weapons? High-capacity magazines?I would not permit concealed carry weapons where alcohol beverages are served. I would not change training requirements. I would support restricting assault weapons and high capacity magazines. I believe in the 2nd amendment, our right to bear arms.Which of the following do you support: New casinos, slot machines at horse racing tracks, gambling on the Internet? Would you approve legislation that includes all of the above in order to compromise and get the parts that you want?I would only support a river boat casino to improve economic development and job creation where needed. Our State should encourage small business development. I would not favor incentives unless used to keep companies in our State.Do you favor changing how Illinois sets new legislative district maps every 10 years? If so how?Yes, our redistricting should be population based and not along party lines.
