Police say they found apartment pot farm

Police in Chicago say they've arrested a North Side man after finding more than $350,000 worth of marijuana plants in his apartment.

In a news release, the police department says that 39-year-old Brian Mayhall has been charged with one felony count of production of cannabis plants and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Monday's release says officers were responding to a tip when they went to Mayhall's apartment on Sunday afternoon, where they could smell the strong odor of marijuana. After Mayhall let them in, police say they found 49 marijuana plants, lights and fans and grow tents throughout the apartment and took Mayhall into custody.
