Basement fire damages Algonquin house

An Algonquin resident returned home Friday night to find the house on fire.

Firefighters were called at 9:12 p.m. to 2141 Cumberland Parkway, according to a news release from the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District.

Fire was found in the basement and extinguished by 9:22 p.m.

No damage estimates are available, and the cause is still under investigation, according to the release. Fire officials could not be reached Saturday morning for further details.
