Coroner: Nurse hit in hospital parking lot suffered multiple injuries

A nurse who was struck by a plow truck at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital near Lake Barrington died of multiple traumatic injuries, an autopsy revealed Thursday.

Diane Shogren, 51, of Ingleside, was hit by the truck as it was plowing snow early Wednesday, authorities said.

According to the Lake County coroner's autopsy, Shogren suffered a broken pelvis, broken ribs and skull and spinal injuries.

Lake County sheriff's police are investigating the accident.

The truck driver, who police said was a 45-year-old hospital employee from Cary, was backing up when the accident occurred, police said.

There's no evidence drugs or alcohol contributed, Sgt. Sara Balmes said.

No tickets have been issued.

Shogren had worked at Good Shepherd since 1987, a hospital spokeswoman said. She worked in various departments through the years but most recently had been part of the day surgery staff.
