Wheat Café, Culinary Market to Open in February for Spring Term

The student-run Wheat Café and Culinary Market at College of DuPage will open for spring term on Wednesday, Feb. 5.

Wheat Café will be open on Wednesdays and Thursdays for dinner and on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays for lunch through May 2. The Culinary Market sells items made by students and will be open from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through May 2.

The four-course lunch at Wheat Café costs $15, and reservations can be made for 11:15, 11:30 or 11:45 a.m.

The five-course dinner costs $22, and reservations can be made for 7 or 7:15 p.m. Four different menus will be offered during the term, focusing on a different region of the country: New England, Feb. 5 to 21; Pacific Northwest, Feb. 25 to March 14; Central Farmlands, March 18 to April 11; and Anglo-Asian California, April 18 to May 2. Two wine selections also are offered at $6 per glass to patrons 21 and older.

Located in the Culinary & Hospitality Center, Wheat Café is a 60-seat casual dining restaurant staffed by Culinary Arts and Hospitality/Restaurant Management students. Students use fresh regional and seasonal ingredients in their American cuisine, and menus change each month.

The menu at the Culinary Market, also located in the CHC next to Wheat Café, changes daily and is tied to the curriculum of several classes.
