Yarbrough’s milestone night helps Z-B to victory

It was a record-setting night on multiple levels at Mundelein.

Needing 30 points to catch former Deerfield star Ryan Hogan and become the all-time leading boys basketball scorer in Lake County history, Zion-Benton senior forward Milik Yarbrough scored 32 points to lead the Zee-Bees to a 70-64 win over the Mustangs in North Suburban Lake Division action Tuesday night.

Yarbrough has 2,410 career points. His effort helped Zion-Benton improve to 20-1, including 9-0 in the NSC Lake.

Mundelein’s Derek Parola, meanwhile, sank four 3-pointers, giving him a school record 104 for the season. Parola finished with 17 points.

“I’m happy for him. Good kid,” Mustangs coach Corey Knigge said of his senior guard. “(The record) is pretty remarkable.”

The loss dropped Mundelein to 2-22 and 0-9 in the division.

Lake Forest 49, Warren 38: Evan Boudreaux scored 27 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for the visiting Scouts in the North Suburban Lake game.

Noah Karras added 8 points coming off the bench for Lake Forest, which improved to 17-4 and 7-3 in the division. Warren fell to 15-10 and 4-6 with its second loss in a row.

Grayslake North 71, Johnsburg 57: The Knights won the Fox Valley Fox contest to improve to 6-10 overall and 4-2 in the division.
