Aurora parents can get FAFSA help tonight

Aurora-area high school seniors and their parents can receive assistance in filling out the standard college financial aid application known as FAFSA from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5, in rooms RA106 and A108 in West Aurora High School, 1201 W. New York St., Aurora.

FAFSA stands for “Free Application for Federal Student Aid” because it is filed with the U.S. Department of Education, but most state-sponsored and college-sponsored aid requires the same application.

Jerry Trujillo from Illinois Student Assistance Commission will be present to help individuals fill out applications. Required FAFSA information includes: Social Security number, birth dates, income taxes for 2012 or 2013, current savings and investment information and W-2 forms.

At the Feb. 5 session, the LULAC youth group also will be on hand to provide scholarship applications and job opportunity listings to students who need them. For more information, contact Jerry Trujillo at (309) 210-9443 and LULAC at lulac7002@gmail.com.
