Antioch opens ice rink:

The village of Antioch has opened an ice rink in the municipal lot behind Hannah’s downtown, officials said in a news release Friday. It’s the first time in several years the village has operated an ice skating venue, officials said. The rink is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. for open skating if the ice is safe to skate. The rink has a maximum capacity of 72 people at one time. The rink is lighted, but will be closed each night so staff can make appropriate repairs and surface cleanup. Those interested in playing hockey on the rink are required to obtain a permit from the parks and recreation office. Play is permitted only from 8 to 10 a.m. or 8 to 10 p.m. daily. All groups interested in hockey ice time are required to have adult supervision and permit in hand prior to use of the ice. Hockey is prohibited during open skating hours. For information, contact the Antioch Parks and Recreation office at (847) 395-2160 or email at parks@antioch.il.gov.
