Antioch man killed in crash
Illinois State Police reported that a 42-year-old Antioch man died Friday afternoon after a crash on Interstate 94 in Gurnee.
Police said the family has been notified but said that because the accident is under investigation, the man’s name has not been released.
According to state police, the accident occurred at 12:55 p.m. on westbound 94 near mile marker 9.
Police said the man’s 2005 Mazda station wagon was traveling in the far-left lane when he swerved all the way across to the far-right lane, striking a 2001 red Ford pickup.
The station wagon wound up in a ditch and traveling through a fence. In the process, the driver was ejected.
The Ford driver pulled over to the side of the road and declined treatment.
The Gurnee Fire Department confirmed that the driver of the Mazda station wagon was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, state police said.
