A passenger in the second vehicle was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital near Lake Barrington with what appeared to be minor injuries, police said.

The crash is being investigated by the Barrington Police Department Major Crash Investigation Team and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team.

McPartlan graduated from Lake Zurich High School in 2010 and had been a mass communication major at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, where she was named to the dean's list. According to St. Francis officials, she had transferred out of the school after the 2013 fall semester.
