Dist. 21 board member to advocate for public education in D.C.
Wheeling Township Elementary School District 21 board member Phil Pritzker will join a delegation of school board members from across the country later this week in Washington, D.C., to advocate for public education.
Pritzker, the recently elected vice president of the Illinois Association of School Boards, will participate in the National School Boards Association’s Leadership Conference and meet with legislators to discuss the importance of local control and funding for public education.
“It is important for our elected officials to know the impact their decisions have on local school districts and public education throughout the state and nation,” Pritzker said. “We are preparing the next generation of leaders and it is critical that our elected officials invest in our children’s success.”
Pritzker also will meet with Sen. Dick Durbin and Reps. Tammy Duckworth and Brad Schneider. Pritzker was appointed to the District 21 board in July 1989, and has been re-elected seven times, making him the longest serving board member in district history. He is a Wheeling resident.
