No injuries in Lake Forest house fire

A fire at a Lake Forest house Tuesday prompted a call for assistance from 25 other departments. A resident of the house on the 200 block of West Laurel Avenue called 911 at 11:28 a.m. to report a fire in the basement. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the lower level of the two-story single-family house. Due to the weather conditions and size of the house, the response was elevated to a third alarm, according to the Lake Forest Fire Department. Crews contained the fire to the basement, but remained for almost four hours chasing hot spots. About 75 firefighters worked on the fire or covered for Lake Forest. No injuries were reported or damage estimate given, although the house was said to be uninhabitable. The cause was under investigation.
