Woman with children in the car charged with DUI
A Wisconsin woman was arrested after a drunken driving crash on Sunday evening near Woodstock with two children in the car, police said.
The McHenry County sheriff, as well as the Harvard, Hebron and Woodstock Fire Protection districts responded to a two-vehicle crash on the 5400 block of Alden Road in unincorporated Alden Township near Woodstock at 4:43 p.m. on Sunday, according to a news release.
Kelly Kufke, 36, was reportedly driving a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta in the southbound lane when she swerved into the northbound lane and hit a 2003 Honda Accord, authorities said.
Kufke and two children in her car were transported to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock, according to the release. The driver of the Honda was uninjured, but three passengers in his car were transported to Centegra Hospital McHenry.
McHenry County sheriff’s deputies charged Kufke, of Manitowoc, Wis., with improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, DUI, aggravated DUI and endangering the life or well-being of a child, police said.
The Department of Child and Family Services departments in both Illinois and Wisconsin were notified.
