GiGi’s Playhouse gift shop to open Feb. 1

Hugs & Mugs Gift Shop & Cafe, a storefront offering keepsake mugs and other gift items designed by adults with Down syndrome to support GiGi’s Playhouse, will host its official grand opening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1.

The event will include remarks and a ribbon-cutting with Hoffman Estates Mayor Bill McLeod, as well as remarks from parents and participants, tours of the store and adjoining National Achievement Center, refreshments and more. Participating adults with Down syndrome will oversee all aspects of the store and lead the mug design and production processes.
