Lakemoor police officer, second driver injured in Saturday crash

A Lakemoor Police patrol officer and another driver were injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning while traveling on Route 120 in Lake County.

The crash occurred around 6:25 a.m. The officer was traveling in a fully-marked 2013 Ford SUV on the inside lane of westbound Route 120, west of Route 12, Lakemoor Police Chief Dave Godlewski said.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 2006 Volvo, was traveling eastbound, lost control of the vehicle and entered into the westbound lane striking the officer’s SUV head-on, he said.

Both the officer and the other driver were taken by a Wauconda Fire ambulance to the Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry. The officer was treated and released, and the other driver did not sustain any life-threatening injuries, Godlewski said.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
