The Libertyville High School Varsity Dance Team takes first place

Submitted by Kathy Khang

The Libertyville High School Varsity Dance Team continues to break new ground, taking first place with their jazz routine in the 2A division in the Mundelein Invitational and third place with their poms routine in the North Suburban Conference’s first dance competition.

This is the second year the team is competing under a new and evolving IHSA structure. This was the first time dance teams met in a conference competition, which was followed by an invitational competition. LHS competed against eight other 2A teams to take third in the conference and against 16 teams in the 2A division to take first place.

The team includes: co-captains Bethany Chang and Stephanie Uliks, Mary Ahern, Christa Eidson, Abbie Gorman, Sarah Krumm, Lily Liermann, Kristen Luce, Shannon Miller, Katarina Pong, Nina Reiter, Camryn Schmidt, Maddie Sefton, Nikki Westphal, Emiliy Yates, Claire Ziegler, and Kelsey Ziemnisky. The team is coached by LHS math teacher Jaqueline Newman.
