Rolling Meadows keeps on rolling

Defending Mid-Suburban East girls basketball champ Rolling Meadows improved to 6-0 on Friday night as its four collegiate recruits all reached double figures in a 91-55 triumph at Buffalo Grove.

St. Louis-bound Jackie Kemph (19 points, 15 assists, 5 steals), St. Louis-bound Jenny Vliet (18 points, 7 rebounds), Northwestern signee Alexis Glasgow (18 points, 4 rebounds) and University of Indianapolis recruit Ashley Montanez (10 points, 10 rebounds) paced the Mustangs’ 18th win in 21 outings.

Senior guard Sami Kay rounded out the balanced effort with 9 points as the explosive Mustangs surpassed the 90-point mark for the fourth time this season.

Montanez led the Mustangs on the boards with 10 rebounds while Vliet had 6.

BG (8-14, 1-5) was paced by Sammy Stejskal (9 points) and Amanda Kowalski (8 points).

Fremd 68, Schaumburg 22: Fremd (18-2, 6-0) retained its one-game lead over Barrington in the MSL West as junior Haley Gorecki scored a game-high 27 points with 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists.

Sophomore Bryana Hopkins added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals for the Vikes, who also got 5 rebounds from senior Erica Simios.

Host Schaumburg (5-14, 2-4) was led by Brittany Reinhart (7 points) and Tatiana Doroskin (6).

Barrington 49, Palatine 42: Angie Kirchoff led host Barrington (16-4, 5-1) with 14 points while Brooke Gunderson added 12 with 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals in the MSL West contest.

“Brooke had some nice baskets at key times, and most came off steals,” said Barrington coach Babbi Barreiro. “Every time Palatine got close, it seemed like Brooke came up with a big play or steal.

“Angie had some nice baskets too. Auri Grayson gave us good minutes off the bench.”

Megan Talbot grabbed 9 rebounds with her 6 points while Bailee McDonald grabbed 8 rebounds.

“As a team we played well in the first quarter,” Barreiro added. “We just had too many lapses where we put two or three turnovers together and that hurts us. And we must be better at the free throw line (Fillies were 6-of-16).”

Sami Heuertz led the Pirates (7-14, 0-6) with 10 points, followed by Morgan Radtke (9) and Monica Masini (8).

Conant 51, Hoffman Estates 35: Host Conant improved to 13-8 and 4-2 in the MSL West as Nireet Dhillion (7 points 4 assists, 4 rebounds) and Danielle Engelbreit (7 points) were top scorers.
