Fremd’s best in MSL West
Fremd wrapped up the Mid-Suburban West girls gymnastics title on Tuesday, producing a score of 148.9 to top host Conant (137.95) and Hoffman Estates (111.15).
Vikings senior Christine Jensen won balance beam (9.55) and floor exercise (9.3) and had the top all-around total (37.6).
Fremd junior Christine Radochonski won vault (9.6) and finished tied for second on beam (9.4).
Vikings junior Sydney Plichta won parallel bars (9.7), while junior Emily Neal was second on bars (9.3) and beam (9.4) and third on floor (8.9).
Sophomore Carly DeFilippo tied for second on vault (9.55) and was second on floor (8.95), and sophomore Maggie Betti was fourth on vault (9.35), tied for third on pars (9.2) and tied for fifth on floor (9.1).
Conant had strong showing from several competitors.
Senior Meicie Bennett had the Cougars’ top all-around total (34.7), which was good for second place ahead of teammates Ali Kelly (34.25), Rachel Tong (33.65) and Gina Massa (32.5).
Bennett placed fifth on bars (9.1) and sixth on vault (8.95). Massa was fifth on vault (9.0) and floor (8.6), and Kelly tied for fifth on beam (9.1).
Hoffman Estates’ top finisher was junior Jennifer Gonzalez, who was ninth on beam (7.75) and sixth in the all-around (29.95).
