• Someone broke into a locked Nicor work truck on the 6S400 block of Hankes Road near Aurora between 9 p.m. Jan. 12 and 7:30 a.m. Jan. 13 and stole a Panasonic Tuff Book laptop computer, Garmin GPS, and a tool bag, according to a sheriff's report.

• Christopher J. Gareski, 22, of the 1300 block of Park Avenue, Montgomery, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or more, and failure to reduce speed after rear-ending another vehicle at about 4:42 a.m. Monday at Hill Avenue and Montgomery Road near Aurora, according to a sheriff's report. Gareski refused field sobriety tests, but a chemical test showed a BAC of .267, the report said.

• A 2012 BMW X5 parked on the 38W500 block of McQuire Place near Geneva was keyed between 7 and 11:30 p.m. Friday, causing an undetermined amount of damage, according to a sheriff's report.
