BG has no need to widen Weiland Rd.

I have lived off Weiland Road since 1976. The Daily Herald article did not mention that the homes Buffalo Grove wants to condemn to widen Weiland are unincorporated. Not one home that is in Buffalo Grove will be condemned.

The article talks about three options, with one option costing the least to residents of Buffalo Grove. They do not even have an option to just resurface Weiland.

There is no need to widen the road. The only places that have backups are near Lake-Cook Road, and Deerfield and Aptakisic roads. Lake-Cook backs up because of traffic on Lake-Cook. The others back up because of the trains. Deerfield Road and Weiland Road are already six lanes if you include turning lanes.

There is no back-up between Lake-Cook and Deerfield Road, where Buffalo Grove wants to condemn the houses.

Buffalo Grove has wanted this unincorporated section for all the years I have lived here. They hack away to reduce the number of houses in the subdivision so we fall under the minimum acreage so they can just grab it.

There are houses on both sides of Weiland but they insist on only taking the homes in the unincorporated area. They offer no compensation to the homes on the west side of Celia Avenue, which will now back up to the widened Weiland Road.

The value of those homes will go down because of Buffalo Grove’s selfishness. Buffalo Grove does whatever it wants to do — and they think, who is going to fight for the unincorporated area? It would be different if the road really needed to be widened but there will be no improvement in traffic flow by destroying the homes on the east side of Weiland.

What would be the cost to resurface Weiland, which should have been done years ago?
