Eight Fox Valley bowlers advance

Eight Fox Valley area boys bowlers advanced to the next round of IHSA state tournament competition out of the DeKalb regional on Saturday, led by South Elgin senior Michael Miller.

Miller rolled a 1,340 series at Mardi Gras Lanes in DeKalb, the top advancing individual score. The Storm shot 6,006 as a team and missed advancing to next weekend’s Rockford Boylan sectional by 25 pins. DeKalb won the team title with a 6, 272 scored while Sycamore, St. Charles East and St. Charles North were the other team qualifiers.

Also advancing to sectionals from the area were senior Cleo Redmond of Larkin (1,321), junior Andrew Howard of Westminster Christian (1,302), junior Brandon Biondo of Jacobs (1,270), senior Joe Sanders of Westminster (1,235), junior Grant Gardner of Huntley (1,215), junior Jake Brown of South Elgin (1,214) and senior Alex Oden of South Elgin (1,179).

DeKalb junior Michael Belluzzi was the individual champion with a 1,383.

At Lake Zurich: Bartlett junior Nick Scumaci had a 1,294 at the Lake Zurich regional and Hawks’ sophomore Alex Cariello rolled a 1,169 as each advanced to the Boylan sectional out of the Lake Zurich regional.
