Veterans attend entrepreneurship workshop

About 13 veterans from Lake County showed up to Computer Systems Institute in Gurnee on Wednesday to participate in their first Veteran’s Entrepreneurship Workshop.

Topics of discussion were skilled resume writing, starting a small business and job placement.

“It covered a lot of interesting areas in which I was concerned with. I can see it working down the line even with my small business that I’m working with now,” said Ricky Dillon of North Chicago.

A member of Wells Fargo was also on hand to discuss the Veterans Express Loan, which is a $500,000 loan for veterans who want to start their own business.

“I think the veterans got good information that they wouldn’t have gotten any other time. They got a good idea of options they have outside of VA benefits,” said Adam Sutter, director of military recruitment at CSI.

Similar events are planned for the future, according to Sutter.
